Bio - Elder Tina C. Mickens

Elder Tina Mickens is the daughter of the late Bishop James and Mother Van J. Mickens, the mother of two beautiful children and grandmother of four.  She has been Kingdom building since childhood.  Her father, the late Bishop Mickens, was patriarch of a family of preachers, singers and musicians and affectionately calls her his “Songbird”.  In addition to Psalmist, she has held offices from choir member/director, Praise Team member, Sunday school teacher, church bookkeeper to Evangelist Board member and Associate Minister.  God has sent Evangelist Mickens all over the U.S. and Europe doing His work.

“I came to the Lord at a young age, and I wanted to serve Him.  I searched for my place and helped my father in ministry, but I truly fell in love with God and His Word in my 30’s.  God took me to different parts of the world to come to know Him – not religion.  Being married and then not married was a journey within itself.  It shaped me as an encourager to others that are broken from this experience.  I know that all that I endured was to bring me to that pivotal point of loving and trusting God for myself.  God began to transform me until I did not act or even talk the same.  I began to minister and teach His Word with passion as only the Holy Spirit could do through me.  I could not fathom preaching because that was not my upbringing, but God called me and I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Elder Mickens was called into ministry in 1997 and was licensed and ordained in 1998 through Missions For Christ Ministries in Philadelphia, PA as an Evangelist.  Since ordination, she has served as Evangelist/Teacher in both Christian and secular arenas in New York, Ohio and currently in South Carolina where she worked with her father in ministry until he retired.  She received her B.S. from Coastal Carolina University in Business Administration and worked in large corporations for 18 years after which the Lord prompted her to transition into education to serve as a light to a lost generation of young people.  She earned her Masters from Columbia International University in Education and is currently working on her Education Specialist degree.

Elder Mickens was ordained as Elder in 2020 under Liberty Church, Columbia, SC.  She has worked as a high school and middle school teacher. She is also serving in the local church.
